Открытый урок в 9 классе по теме "Выбор будущей профессии", форма работы - групповая.

Методическая разработка урока английского языка в 9 классе по теме  «What profession to choose?» по курсу «Enjoy English» автор М.З.Биболетова  посвящена проблеме выбора профессии обучающимися. Основной идеей урока является погружение девятиклассников в ситуацию предстоящего для них выбора, осознание ими того факта, насколько важно сделать правильный выбор в жизни, найти себя. Попытка рассмотреть плюсы и минусы той или иной профессии, вжиться в роль и принять обоснованное решение, позволит подготовить девятиклассников к реальной жизни.

 Данная разработка адресована  учителям, работающим на второй ступени общего образования, в предпрофильных и профильных классах.

Ход урока:

1.Организационный  момент.

Good afternoon guys, how are you today?

 We have guests, so let’s meet them.

Today we have a special lesson. We are going to work in groups. The groups have already been formed; now choose a leader of each group please (half a minute).

Ok, so, let’s listen to the recording and guess our today’s topic.

Textbook P 153 listening.

Did you guess? What is it? Right you are (slide 1)

What are the aims of our lesson?

(to broaden our minds, to get prepared for making a right choice, to learn to be tolerant, to analyze our own inclinations for certain subjects)- Well done, thank you

Our today’s topic is extremely important for everybody, because when you choose your future profession you choose your way in life. This choice can influence your whole life.

As a Chinese philosopher Confucius said, “If you choose a right profession you won’t have to work a day in your life”. Do you agree?

There are about 40 thousand professions in the world and every year some of them disappear or become less popular and other emerge.

Can you recall professions that don’t exist anymore?

Children speak on the topic.

What are the most popular and desirable professions nowadays?

We are going to revise the names of professions. What jobs and occupations do you know? Let’s see

Come up to the blackboard and fill in the boxes (any volunteer comes up and writes down the words said by groups)

Ex.:         engineer

        driver        

                                          doctor

        teacher

sportsman……etc.

Good job guys!

It’s logical that all these occupations can be divided into some groups. What groups and why?

Can you guess? Ok (teacher writes down the 4 groups)

Jobs can be:

  1. Creative
  2. Scientific/Mental
  3. Physical
  4. Service

Now the leader of each group comes up to me and chooses a card with a branch.

While you will be doing some tasks think of professions that are related to your branch, make a list of them, think of essential qualities needed for these jobs.

Finally, you should make an image or an emblem representing the job. (it can be a tool, equipment, a person, whatever your fantasy can suggest).

During our lesson you should only think of it and I will tell you when you can start doing it. Ok? Is it clear? All right.

  1. I work with people. I must be polite and attentive, give detailed information. I often receive a lot of calls.
  2. I am a student and it’s important for me to earn some money. My work isn’t difficult and also it is not far from my house.
  3. I am a sociable person and I adore travelling. My profession gives me opportunity to travel a lot.
  4. One should be very interested, responsible and good-natured for this profession. It’s very difficult but awarding at the same time
  5. My profession is useful. I wouldn’t tell it is prestigious or well-paid but people need us.

I want you to start doing your project. You should be able to make a presentation and talk about advantages and disadvantages( 2-3 minutes) and show the emblem or an image of the job.

Start, please, you have about 8 minutes.

Each group has stickers you are to vote now for the group you like best, it’s forbidden to vote for your own group.
