Задачи урока

1. Обеспечить тренировку и употребление лексики по теме «Travelling» в серии упражнений.

2. Развивать умение кратко высказываться на заданную тему:

составлять связанное высказывание с опорой на план и карту;

рассказывать о целях изучения английского языка.

3. Обучать учащихся чтению текста с целью извлечения искомой информации.

4. Развивать языковую и контекстуальную догадку при чтении.

5. Практиковать учащихся в умении работать с картой, используя знания, приобретенные в процессе изучения других учебных предметов.

Оборудование: компьютер, экран, учебники.

Ход урока

1. Оргмомент.

Обсуждение темы раздела (Round the World Tour), целей, задач и плана работы на уроке.

-Good morning, children!

-I am glad to see you. How are you today? Who is absent?

Let’s begin our lesson. This time we’ll learn the topic “Round the World Tour”. We’ll speak about foreign countries, different continent where these countries are situated, about people of different nations and nationalities who live in these countries.

Look at the map. Guess which English – speaking countries will be visited by the Winners of the Teenagers Competition. Describe one of them using the plan:

What is this country famous for?

P1: The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

 The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated on two large islands called the British Isles. The larger island is Great Britain, which consists of three parts: England, Scotland and Wales. The smaller island is Ireland and there are about five thousand small islands. The country’s shores are washed by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea and the Irish Sea. The English channel separate Great Britain from the continent.

  The total area of the U.K. is 244.00 square kilometers with a population of 56 million. Very often the inhabitants of The United Kingdom and Northern Ireland are called the English. The official language is English. The capital of the UK is London. London is situated upon both banks of the River Thames and it is one of the largest cities in the world. There are 27 bridges over the Thames. Tower Bridge is the most famous bridge. It is just a few minutes away from the Tower of London. London is rich in sights.

P2: The United States of America.

The United States of America is the fourth largest country in the world (after Russia, Canada and China). It is called the United States, the US, the USA, the States, America. The USA occupies the southern part of Northern America, Alaska in the north and some islands, including the Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean. The total area of the country is over nine and a half million square kilometers. The USA borders on Mexico in the south and Canada in the North. It has sea border with Russia, too.

The western coast of the country is washed by the Pacific Ocean, and its eastern coast — by the Atlantic Ocean. The USA comprises 50 states .The capital of the country is Washington, D. C. It was founded in 1790.  The population of the country is about 250 million people . The symbol of the USA is the statue of Liberty. This statue is in New York. English is the official language. The second important language is Spanish. The country’s motto is “In God we Trust”.

P3: Australia.

Australia is the only country in the world that is also a continent. It is the sixth large country and the smallest continent. Australia lies between the South Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. It is a large country, but its population is only 18.3 million people.  The country's official name is Commonwealth of Australia. The capital of the country is Canberra, but Sydney is more famous for people. Sydney is a tourist center. The symbol of Sydney is the Opera House. The koala and the kangaroo are the best loved and known Australian animals. English is the official language in Australia.

P4: Canada.

Canada is one of the world’s largest countries. Its area is about 10 million sq km. It is situated in Northern North America. Canada is washed by three oceans: the Atlantic Ocean on the east, the Pacific Ocean on the west, and the Arctic Ocean on the North. Canada consists of three territories and eight provinces.

. The population of Canada is 29 million people. The capital is Ottawa; the main cities are Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. The red and white Canadian flag shows a leaf of the maple tree, which grows in North America. Canada is often called the “Land of the Maple Leaf”. The maple leaf is the national emblem of Canada. The two official languages are English and French. Canada is famous for its lakes and The Niagara Falls.

P5: New Zealand.

New Zealand is an island country in the Pacific Ocean. It New Zealand belongs to a large island group called Polynesia. The country is situated on two main islands — the North Island and the South Island — and several dozen smaller islands. Wellington is the capital of New Zealand. The population of New Zealand is mixed. Some people came from Britain. Some Maori people lived here before the British came. The official languages are English and Maori. English is called Kiwi English. When it is summer in New Zealand, it is winter in Europe.

5. Физкультминута

Which is the way to London Town? (Шагаем на месте.)

Where? Where? (Повороты в стороны.)

Up in the air, (Смотрим вверх).

Close your eyes (Закрываем глаза).

7. Чтение текста.

Учебник стр.44 упр.42.

Учащиеся знакомятся с новым видом текста the information map, выясняют основные причины изучения английского языка.

8. Письмо.

Составление схемы.

Учитель на доске, учащиеся в тетради записывают прилагательные, характеризующие английский язык.

9. Монологическая речь.

Причины изучения английского языка.
